Summer Camp in New York City

This summer program enables youth, ages 14-18, to improve their English and discover American culture in one of the most fascinating cities of the country, New York City.  This experience will allow you to immerse yourself in the ambiance of a great American city, while benefiting fully from the secure and comfortable setting of a university campus, and to learn English, in both a classroom setting as well as through daily practice. The program is open to all levels of English, from beginner to advanced.

Our program is available in the summer for periods of 2, 3, or 4 weeks. Participants have 15 hours of morning English classes a week and participate in various activities during the afternoon (guided visits of the city, shopping, sports, films, dancing).

Schools

Participants are lodged on the campus of either Kean University or Seton University.
  • Kean University
Kean University is situated on the west side of New York, about 12 miles (20 km) from Manhattan.  The campus, located in the middle of a park, is very well-connected to the city through public transportation.  (It only takes about 40 minutes to get to the center of New York).  Participants share a room (with a bathroom) with one other student, and share a lounge and a kitchen with a few more students. Meals are provided by the cafeteria, offering all-you-can-eat buffets. Students enjoy the on-site swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball, basketball and football fields.
  • Seton Hall University
Seton Hall University is located 40 minutes west of Manhattan. The suburban campus is located in the quaint town of South Orange.  Accommodation is in apartment-style suites with air conditioning, and shared with one other student. Meals are served at the buffet-style cafeteria with all-you-can-eat plan. The campus recreational facilities include an indoor swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, outdoor football fields, and tennis courts.

Courses

Participants take a test upon arrival in order to be placed in a group according to their level. They attend 15 English lessons per week.  Courses in a small classroom setting (maximum 15 students) allow for intensive focus on conversational skills.  Certificates of participation are given out at the end of the program.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in a residence hall and students are placed two to a room. All meals are served  at the cafeteria on campus. However, only breakfast and an evening meal are included during the weekend.

Activities

One full-day trip and three half-day  visits are organized each week.  Various activities are also planned every afternoon and evening. Participants are supervised 24/7.
